0

Tonight there’s a plethora of really good things to watch, making it hard to choose where you’ll devote your time. If you’re in the mood for laughs, there’s “Awkwafina is Nora From Queens,” “Coming to America,” or “First Sunday.” Or maybe you’re in the mood for historical drama or true crime (“Hidden Figures,” “Aaron Hernandez: An ID Murder Mystery,” “Live PD” or “Emanuel”) or maybe you’re look for action and thrills tonight, Monday’s got that too (“Indiana Jones,” “Set It Off,” “Bad Boys II” or “9-1-1: Lone Star”).

Pick of the Day:

“Awkwafina is Nora From Queens” (Comedy) at 10:30 p.m. ET

Catch a sneak-peek of Comedy Central’s new sketch comedy show based on the happenings of Awkwafina‘s life growing up in Queens, NY. Riding high on her star-turning performance in “The Farewell” and a meteoric rise over the past two years, Awkwafina brings her comedic genius to telling the story of the “lost millennial” in this series also starring BD Wong. If you’re up for laughs tonight, this is bound to be worth staying up late for.

Movies on TV:

“Coming to America” (Sundance) 8:30 PM ET

One of the greatest comedies of the last 30 years, “Coming to America” combined the comedic genius of Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall as African Prince Akeem and his best friend Semmi. Released in 1988 and Oscar-nominated for “Best Costume Design,” this film follows the Prince as he ventures to America to sow his royal oats and hopefully find his perfect wife. With a solid supporting cast (and even a cameo from Samuel L. Jackson early in his career), great dialogue, amazing costume and set design and memorable performances, “Coming to America” is definitely worth the watch, whether for the first or fiftieth time.

“Hidden Figures” (FX) 7:00 p.m. ET

2016’s “Best Picture” nominated film, “Hidden Figures” is an inspiring and engaging true life drama about the extraordinary, history-making team of female African-American mathematicians that played a vital role in the early years of NASA’s U.S. Space Program. With a standout performance from singer Janelle Monáe and stellar performances from Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer (earning her a “Best Supporting Actress” nom), Kevin Costner and a host of other familiar faces, this heartening story is a wonderful watch for the entire family tonight.

“Reservoir Dogs” (Encore) 8:00 PM ET

1992’s seminal crime drama about a simple jewelry heist gone wrong will have you on the edge of your seat tonight. One of Quentin Tarantino‘s best, this film is quintessential Tarantino…brutal and brutally funny. This film reels you in from the very beginning and keeps you engaged all the way through. Starring a veritable “who’s who” (Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, Steve Buscemi, Chris Penn and Tarantino himself), “Reservoir Dogs” is a must-watch, leaving you saying that “every dog has its day.”
