Tonight’s lineup has got it all. There’s something for the history buffs (“Washington,” “American Pickers,” “Independent Lens”), the film buffs (“The Godfather,” “Pretty Woman,” “Gigi”) and even the adrenaline junkies (“John Wick,” “John Wick 2,” “Transformers: The Last Knight,” “The Hunger Games”). Or maybe you’re in the mood for laughs tonight (“Harlem Nights,” “The Campaign”) or a really good scripted TV drama (“The New Pope,” “Prodigal Son,” “All American,” “The Good Doctor”). Monday’s got that too.

Pick of the Day:

“Washington” (History) at 8:00 p.m. ET

Tune in to the History Channel tonight for the second episode in this 3-night miniseries about how a young, fatherless soldier becomes our most well-known founding father and united a fledgling country. Executive-produced by world-renowned presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize-winning, New York Times #1 bestselling author Doris Kearns Goodwin, “Washington” delves into the other side of Washington, the one most aren’t familiar with. This series chronicles his life from an ambitious young man into a revolutionary and reluctant leader of a new nation that would one day become a world superpower.

Movies on TV:

“Harlem Nights” (BET) 6:00 PM ET

Harlem Nights

Filled with comedic heavy-weights (Eddie Murphy, Redd Foxx, Richard Pryor and Della Reese just to name a few), this 1989 film tells the story of an illegal casino owner trying to survive the competition and corrupt cops in 1930s NYC. Filled with memorable scenes and stellar performances, “Harlem Nights,” a black comedy, is a fun and engaging watch tonight that will keep you entertained and laughing.

“John Wick” (Paramount) 7:00 p.m. ET

One of Keanu Reeves’ more memorable roles since Neo in “The Matrix,” “John Wick” is a guy on a mission out for vengeance. This action thriller is the story of a former hit-man who comes out of retirement to avenge his last gift from his dead wife, his beloved dog. Reeves shines in a role that seems tailor-made for him. Although not a super strong plot, the action and thrills more than make up for what the storyline and believability lack. And it spawned multiple sequels, so it must exciting and enjoyable watch.

“Gigi” (TMC) 8:00 PM ET

On a much lighter note, tune in to TCM tonight for a lavish, beautiful old-school musical. “Gigi,” starring Leslie Caron, Louis Jourdan and Maurice Chevalier, is the story of a disillusioned rich playboy and young courtesan-in-training who have a platonic friendship that just might become something more. Directed by one of the greatest movie musical directors of classic Hollywood, Vincent Minnelli, this 1958 musical rom-com is lovely to watch and listen to. Give it a watch if you want a feel good movie that also highlights a few gender and old Parisian societal issues with a delicate touch.
