Whether you just want to kick back with some laughs after a long day (“Zombieland,” “Grown Ups 2,” “Breeders,” or “All About the Benjamins”) or you’re in the mood from more serious fare that gets you thinking (“The Plot Against America,” “Cosmos: Possible Worlds,” or “My Brilliant Friend: The Story of a New Name”), you’re in for a treat tonight. Or maybe you want to get the adrenaline pumping (“Black Panther,” “The Hitman’s Bodyguard,” “Predator 2,” “No Country For Old Men,” or “Live PD”). Monday’s got that too! Tonight there’s something for the comedy lover, the action junkie, the intellectual, the crier, the whole family and everyone in between.

Pick of the Day:

“The Plot Against America” (HBO) at 9:00 p.m. ET

We’ve all thought about how different our lives would be if we had done something differently in the past. That’s what makes alternative history fare so interesting and engaging. Tune in tonight for the premiere of this HBO limited series based on the book of the same name. Imagine what the early 1940s would be like if the somewhat controversial Charles Lindbergh had been elected president. Starring Winona Ryder, Zoe Kazan, Morgan Spector and John Turturro, “The Plot Against America” rewrites a history that seems all too familiar.

Movies on TV:

“The Blind Side” (Freeform) 6:00 PM ET

In this 2009 film that won her a Best Actress Oscar, Sandra Bullock plays Leigh Anne Tuohy whose family takes in a traumatized homeless boy who goes on to become a first-round NFL draft pick. Based on the life story of Michael Oher (played by Quinton Aaron), “The Blind Side” is equal parts touching, heartbreaking and light-hearted. With a heartwarming story and standout performances by the likes of Bullock, Tim McGraw, Aaron, Lily Collins, Kathy Bates and a scene-stealing young Jae Head, this is a great watch for the entire family and will make you believe in the kindness of others again.

“Black Panther” (TNT) 7:30 p.m. ET

Unless you were living under a rock in 2018, you’ve probably seen or at least heard of the record-breaking and history-making Marvel extravaganza “Black Panther.” This film set off a pop culture tidal wave from memes to poses and cries of “Wakanda Forever.” At its heart, “Black Panther” is a story of embracing the future while not forgetting your past. Directed by Ryan Coogler and starring an A-list cast (Michael B. Jordan, Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Sterling K. Brown, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis) this film is a delight for the senses with its vibrant, futuristic envisioning of the land of Wakanda, stunning action sequences and stellar performances.

“Zombieland” (SYFY) 9:00 PM ET

Who doesn’t love a good zombie flick? And when you add a hilarious premise (trying to reach family and safety while also searching for the last Twinkie) and an amazing cast, you can’t go wrong. Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, Amber Heard and a hilarious Bill Murray as himself, “Zombieland” is “a comedy that kills” is guaranteed to be a fun time tonight.
