What’s On TV – Sunday (05/03/2020) – HBO’s ‘Westworld’ Leads a Night of Finales

Westworld Genre Aaron Paul

Tonight we say goodbye to some popular series from both basic cable and premium networks, with “Westworld,” “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” and “Good Girls” all having their season finales. But we’ve also got some new shows just starting their spring seasons, and classic comfort films to keep us entertained.

“Westworld” (HBO) at 9:00 PM EDT

The third season finale of “Westworld” brings all of the action to a head, featuring the long-awaited showdown between Dolores and Maeve. Par for the course for this inventive science-fiction drama, viewers, go into the last episode totally unaware of the twists and turns that await them. The one thing we do know, however, is that we’ll be seeing more of “Westworld.” The popular HBO show was renewed for a fourth season in late April, with showrunners promising more surprises than ever before.

“Billions” (Showtime) at 9:00 PM EDT

Billions Season 4

For the past four seasons, “Billions” has turned finance into high drama, with two spectacular lead performances from Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis. Tonight’s fifth season premiere will see the former enemies team up to fight against a new rival (Corey Stoll), but since this is “Billions,” we can’t expect that arrangement to last for too long. A certain amount of backstabbing was always going to be in the cards.

“Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” (NBC) at 9:00 PM EDT

The freshman season of “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” a bright, bubbly comedy about a woman who begins to hear other people’s thoughts in the form of splashy musical numbers, is drawing to a close. And although it attracted its fair share of devoted fans, it’s unclear if “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” will be a one-season wonder. Showrunner Austin Winsberg seems to have high hopes for a second season renewal, but viewers will have to wait for NBC to make their final call before getting any real closure on the show’s fate.

“Raiders of the Lost Ark” (CBS) at 8:00 PM EDT

When you’re looking for a movie that’s going to thoroughly engross you in its world and ultimately take your mind off things, “Raiders of the Lost Ark” is a perfect choice. Harrison Ford plays the iconic Indiana Jones, anthropology professor, and professional treasure hunter, extraordinaire. His escapades here are an ode to classic adventure serials of the 1930s, vividly brought to life with the help of modern filmmaking. What more could you want?
