What’s On TV This Week? (June 28-July 4) – Celebrating America with ‘Hamilton’ and 1990 Movie for ACCA

The week of 4th of July typically brings many “America celebration” but under the thumb of a pandemic and virtual navigating, there’s not much to celebrate. Disney+ is giving us something to look forward to with the stage recording of “Hamilton” dropping on Friday while “Black Monday” returns to Showtime.

In addition, as America “celebrates” her independence this week, many seasons are seeing their finale while the BET Awards will host their 20th annual show where Beyoncé will be honored with the prestigious Humanitarian Award. The late Kobe Bryant and Little Richard will also be honored by performances by rapper Lil Wayne and Wayne Brady. The BET Awards will air Sunday, June 28 on BET and CBS beginning at 8:00 PM EST.

Hamilton (Disney+) – Friday, July 3

Filmed at The Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in June of 2016, the Tony-winning musical will make its debut on the streaming platform just in time for America’s birthday. The mid-season premiere comes back to Showtime, in an episode directed by Tiffany Johnson. At TBDs Halloween party, Blair (Andrew Rannells) tries to make the trade of a lifetime, Mo (Don Cheadle) and Dawn (Regina Hall) argue over an opportunity, Tiff (Casey Wilson) and Corky (June Diane Raphael) loosen up, and Keith phones a friend.
