What’s On TV? – Thursday (01/09/2020) – Catch Sienna Miller in Her Best Performance in ‘American Woman’

Today’s pick of the day is one of the best movies from 2019. It had a very limited theatrical run and advertising.

Pick of the Day:
“American Woman” (HBO2) at 8:00 p.m. ET

Sienna Miller gives the performance of her career in “American Woman,” a searing encapsulation of grief and the long-term toll it takes. She plays a mother, whose teenage daughter goes missing, and she is forced to care for her young grandchild. The movie takes place over several years and shows Miller’s Debra attempt to never give up hope. Miller should be winning every Best Actress award but “American Woman” flew too under the radar.

Two very different specials are airing tonight. One will satisfy game show fans and the other will satisfy true crime fans, especially those who have been following the news lately:

  • “Jeopardy! The Greatest of All Time” (ABC) at 8:00 p.m. ET
  • “Truth & Lies: The Jeffrey Epstein Story” (ABC) at 9:00 p.m. ET

Dick adaptation. If you haven’t seen the film, tonight’s a good night to catch it. Just don’t read about it beforehand. Let the movie’s surprises unfold.
