What’s On TV? – Tuesday (12/17/19) – ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’ Brings Traditional Holiday Spirit

The Christmas festivities continue as a classic holiday special airs tonight. Meanwhile, “The Voice” will have its season finale while Adam Sandler devotees can watch a light comedy as the famed comedian enters the realm of dark drama.

“A Charlie Brown Christmas” (ABC) at 8:00 PM EDT

Over the years, the Emmy-winning television special “A Charlie Brown Christmas” has become a Yuletide tradition. Based on the comic strip “Peanuts,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas” follows the titular protagonist as he feels gloomy during the holidays. However, with the help of his friends, he learns the true meaning of Christmas.

“The Voice” (NBC) at 8:00 PM EDT and 9:00 PM EDT

Tonight, “The Voice” reaches the end of its seventeenth season. Judges Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend will guide the four finalists as America chooses who the winner is. Before the official finale takes place, an hour-long special at 8:00 PM will air. It’ll follow host Carson Daly and the four finalists as they prepare for the big competition.

“Happy Gilmore” (Encore) at 9:00 PM EDT

Adam Sandler gives a bold, revelatory turn in “Uncut Gems,” earning Oscar buzz in the process. But until that film potentially expands into their area, Sandler fans can revisit a classic fan favorite. In “Happy Gilmore,” Sandler plays an aspiring hockey player who finds a new calling as he enters the world of pro golf. Although he’s an outsider in that world due to his temperament and lack of expertise, he still competes anyhow in order to win back his grandmother’s house.
