With the holidays passing and the regular television schedule in full swing, many shows are coming back. The most notable shows returning to regular programming and/or premiering new seasons are “The Goldbergs,” “Good Trouble,” “Grace and Frankie,” “The Magicians,” “Nancy Drew,” “Schooled,” and “S.W.A.T.” There are also a few series premieres, most notably “68 Whiskey,” “Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez,” and “Listing Impossible.”

Pick of the Day:

“Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez” (Netflix)

A true crime docuseries, this will examine the tragic story of former NFL tight end and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez. Hernandez was a football star from Bristol, Connecticut who went on to play collegiately for the University of Florida and thrive with the New England Patriots. However, soon after he signed a $40 million contract extension with New England in 2013, he was discovered to be the prime suspect in the murders of three Boston area men. This series will explore the life of Hernandez and the twists and turns that led him down his unfortunate path.

Movies on TV:

“Spy” (FX Movie Channel) at 7:25 p.m. ET

A raucous take on the spy film, this 2015 Paul Feig comedy is a rollicking good time. It stars Melissa McCarthy as Susan Cooper, a CIA desk analyst who is suddenly thrust into an undercover mission after the assassination of her partner. With an equally game Jason Statham co-starring and Rose Byrne’s memorable performance as the film’s antagonist, it’s a really fun and breezy film that is enjoyable for comedy lovers and action lovers alike.
