What’s on TV? – Wednesday (2/20/19) – ‘Survivor: Edge of Extinction’ Marks 38th Season

While there many not be many new shows starting on TV today, there is one big premiere tonight. Since 2000, “Survivor” on CBS has captivated audiences and defined the reality TV competition program. Read through to see what’s new on the “Survivor” front and what other shows are new tonight.

“Survivor” (CBS) at 8 p.m. ET.

We return to Fiji tonight with the premiere of “Survivor’s” 38th season on CBS. The latest season, “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” begins at 8 p.m. ET tonight. The title refers to a new addition to the game: Extinction Island. Once eliminated, contestants can choose between leaving the game for good or heading to Extinction Island. Once on the island, the contestants will have to survive on a desolate, abandoned beach until an opportunity to rejoin the game presents itself. Fourteen new contestants take on four returning players – Joe Anglim (World Apart & Cambodia), Aubry Bracco (Kaôh Rōng & Game Changers), Kelley Wentworth (San Juan del Sur & Cambodia) and David Wright (Millennials v. Gen X). There’s a reason “Survivor” is the longest running reality show on CBS. Tune in to see how the competition continues to morph.

There are no brand new shows making their debut tonight. However, there are plenty of other new and exciting shows airing new episodes tonight. Continue to read to find out more about them.

Do you know when you’re being watched? “See No Evil” returns to Investigation Discovery at 9 p.m. ET for its fifth season. The show follows crimes that are specifically solved from surveillance footage. Security footage is all around us and capture more of our everyday life than we realize. This same thought applies to criminals. “See No Evil” exposes crimes from people unaware that they are being taped. The first episode of the fifth season deals with the 2016 murder of Louise Dickey and the role surveillance footage plays in catching the killers.

For those looking for a movie on TV tonight, we have two different animated options. Freeform airs the 2004 Oscar winning film “The Incredibles” at 8:30 p.m. ET. The Pixar classic centers around a family of superheroes forced by society to live normal lives. The film’s sequel, “The Incredibles 2,” is currently nominated for Best Animated Feature. Going up against that film this year is “Isle of Dogs” from Wes Anderson. That film comes on HBO Family tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET for those looking to catch up on all the Oscar nominated films. In the film, a group of dogs banishes on a trash island go on an adventure to save a young pilot who crashes on the island.
