What’s on TV? – Wednesday (3/6/19) – ‘The Real Housewives of New York’ Return to Bravo

lookbook rhony interview looks promote

There’s nothing better than winding down after a long Wednesday with some junk food TV. There’s been plenty of debate about the artistic merit of the glut of reality TV shows. However, art and entertainment value don’t always have to intersect. Tonight features some new reality show premieres and other season finales. Celebrate hump day with one of these recommendations.

“The Real Housewives of New York” (Bravo) at 9 p.m. ET.

RHONYS Ramona Singer Dorinda Medley Tinsley Mortimer and Sonja Morgan at New York Fashion WeekWe are under siege with Bravo content. Just this week alone, we’re treated to new episodes of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, Atlanta, Beverly Hills and the premiere of New York. However, New York remains my favorite franchise. Luann, Bethenny, Ramona, Sonja, Dorinda and Tinsley are back. This season deals with the aftermath of Bethenny’s ex’s death, Luann’s rocky road to recovery and lots of new apartment drama. Though Carole Radziwill has bowed out of this season following the epic Bethenny/Carole feud, the show ads Barbara Kavovit, Luann’s good friend, as a guest. The Season 11 premiere airs at 9 p.m. ET tonight on Bravo.

Other than the New York housewives, there aren’t any new premieres on TV tonight. That doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of things to watch tonight. Read on to see what else is new tonight.

GRHOWGordon Ramsay has taken us to hell and it’s time for him to bring us back. Tonight marks the season 2 finale of  “Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back” at 8 p.m. ET on FOX. Over the course of nine episodes, Ramsay has driven his “Hell on Wheels” vehicle across the country renovating struggling restaurants. This finale brings Ramsay to Los Angeles to work on Social and M’Dears Bakery & Bistro. Will he be able to breathe new life into these places or will their shot at a second chance go up in flames? Tune in to find out.

battleofthesexes imageThere are a few very different movie premieres happening tonight. Cinemax premieres “Battle of the Sexes” for the first time on its channel at 8 p.m. ET tonight. Emma Stone was unfortunately overlooked for her performance as 70s tennis pioneer Billy Jean King. King faces off against male chauvinist pig Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) in a match to fight for women’s equality in tennis. Showtime decided to go more political and less sporty with their premiere. Screenplay nominee “The Ides of March” comes on at 9:15 p.m. ET. The film revolves around an idealistic press secretary (Ryan Gosling) who realizes his political candidate (George Clooney) is hiding a massive scandal. Like most films, it underuses Marisa Tomei in favor of more “man” drama. However, for those embroiled in the 2020 election cycle and looking for more political drama, this could be just the ticket.
