Pick of the Day

“Jim Gaffigan: Quality Time” (Amazon Prime)

Jim Gaffigan: Quality Time

In his eighth album and first Amazon Prime comedy special, the veteran comedian delivers an hour and a half of laughs that is simultaneously relatable and appropriate for all ages. Gaffigan, known for his family-friendly comedy, did something a little different in this special than the others: he leaned into the unease the audience felt while he spent a good half hour exclusively telling horse jokes. The more horse jokes he told, the funnier it got. Other favorite moments were Gaffigan’s thoughts on dog surprise parties and surviving summer in the desert.

While other comedians use their facial expressions and body to contribute to their comedy in taped specials, Gaffigan continues to bring the funny using only his voice. Throughout his act, Gaffigan performs several different impressions and uses a variety of characters he mimics using different voices. This special is sure to bring non-stop laughs as Gaffigan shows his skill as a comedian.
