What’s On TV? – Wednesday (9/25/19) New & Returning Shows Premiere!

The Emmys may be over but there is still much to look forward to on TV this week as many primetime shows return this week! Shows such as “The Goldbergs” and “Survivor” return with new fall shows we’ve been waiting for all summer finally premiere!

Pick of the Day

“Stumptown” (ABC) at 10 p.m. ET

“Stumptown,” based on the graphic novel by Oni Press, premieres tonight on ABC. The show follows a sharp army veteran who moves home to Portland and becomes a private investigator and takes care of her brother, Ansel (Cole Sibus), who has Down Syndrome. Cobie Smulders plays the lead character, Dex Parios, and Jake Johnson stars as Dex’s best friend, Grey McConnell, with Michael Ealy as Detective Hoffman.

With so many cop dramas on air, this might be a breath of fresh air as the story approaches the premise from a new angle. This series is sure to allow Smulders to flex her tough girl muscles as she plays this no-nonsense character.

Movies on TV

Trainwreck” (FX Movie Channel) at 6:45 p.m. ET

This 2015 comedy written by comedian Amy Schumer is a rom-com classic. With two Golden Globe nominations for Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical and Amy Schumer for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, this film is a home run. Directed by Judd Apatow, “Trainwreck” is a heartwarming and hilarious story of a hard-working woman who doesn’t believe in monogamy. That is until she meets a sweet sports doctor, Aaron, played by Bill Hader.

Schumer drew from her own childhood to write the film, such as her father’s long string of girlfriends and how she perceived love growing up. “Trainwreck” perfectly mixes humor and drama and is sure to make you laugh and cry.
